KEY TAKEAWAYS
  • Your domain is the main asset: prices, opening hours, specifications and contact details must be accurate there and reachable by crawlers.
  • Every quantified study available covers US desktop in English: nobody can sell you a Moroccan AI-visibility figure.
  • Search Console gives impressions only for generative AI features, with no split for AI Mode and no queries; the country filter remains usable.

The subject is already local

Google's documentation on AI Mode availability lists Morocco among supported countries, and both French and Arabic among supported languages. The page carries no date, it describes a current state: there is no way to say since when. But the useful point is settled, visibility inside generated answers is a present concern for a Moroccan site, not an anticipation.

That changes the nature of the discussion. The question is no longer whether AI will sit between a search and your site, but to note that it already does, in your customers' languages. What remains is what official sources actually describe, and what can be measured.

Google widened the links inside its answers

On 15 October 2026, Google announced “continued and substantial increases” in the number of inline links inside AI responses, and said it places them higher more often. The company is also testing an “official site” block at the top of responses, expanding news carousels to more placements and languages, and adding thumbnails to related-article links.

This is the most consequential change of the period for a site's traffic. The tested block rewards a precise criterion: being unambiguously identifiable as the official site for your brand. A clear home page, a consistent company name, complete legal information and verifiable contact details weigh more than any copywriting optimisation. The announcement does not say which languages the carousel expansion covers.

AI queries your own domain first

A study published on 12 October 2026 analysed 66.6 million logged-out ChatGPT responses and the 15 million derived queries they generated, over August and September 2026. About 14.4% of responses contain such derived queries, at roughly 1.6 per response. Among those, 6.8% use the site search operator, across about 116,000 domains.

The most telling result is the target of those searches: 75.9% of the most-targeted domains are brand sites, against 11.9% for retailers. And 84.4% of factual questions cite at least one official source. In other words, when an assistant looks for a fact about your company, it looks for it at your place. The practical conclusion is unspectacular: accurate prices, opening hours, specifications and contact details, readable and reachable by crawlers on your own domain.

What these figures do not measure

The limit should be stated as clearly as the result. That study covers a single model, over two months, from logged-out responses, in the United States. The other available work on generated-answer coverage also covers US desktop in English, on keyword panels defined by their authors.

None of this data measures Morocco, French or Arabic. It indicates a direction, not a position. A rule of commercial caution follows: if a supplier shows you an AI-visibility percentage for your brand in Morocco, ask for the measured population, the period and the method. As things stand, no published source supports producing that figure.

What Google says not to do

Google's optimisation guide for generative AI features is explicit on several points sold as services: do not create an llms.txt file, no special AI markup, no artificial content chunking, no rewriting aimed at models alone, no seeking inauthentic mentions. Structured data is not presented as necessary, and the page advises caution towards third-party AI-optimisation offers.

That page was last updated on 10 July 2026, so before the period studied here, but it remains the official position. It is worth quoting as is in a discussion with a supplier. The sentence that sums up the guide is the most useful one: optimising for generative search amounts to optimising for the search experience.

What you can actually measure and decide

In Search Console, the report for generative AI features merges overviews and AI Mode into a single figure, provides impressions only with no clicks, and offers pages, countries, dates and devices as dimensions, but not queries. That is little, and still usable: the country filter isolates Morocco and shows a trend.

Two decisions remain yours. Inclusion in these features is governed by a control described in Google's documentation, updated on 21 October 2026, which applies site-wide rather than page by page: there is no partial opt-out. And since 16 October 2026, Cloudflare scores whether declared bots honour site preferences, starting with robots.txt: writing those rules correctly becomes enforceable rather than advisory.
